How To Cancel Apple TV+ (Now Called Apple TV)

To cancel Apple TV+ — which Apple now calls simply Apple TV: 1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name at the top. 2. Tap Subscriptions. 3. Tap Apple TV in the list. 4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. There is no cancellation fee, and you keep streaming until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Not on an iPhone? The same cancellation lives at tv.apple.com in any browser, in the App Store on a Mac, and in the Settings menu on an Apple TV box — and if Amazon or your wireless carrier bills you instead of Apple, the cancel button lives with them. Every path is covered below.

Quick Facts Before You Cancel

  • The service was renamed. Apple dropped the plus sign — Apple TV+ is now just “Apple TV,” so that is the name you will see in your subscriptions list.
  • Current price: $12.99/month in the US (after an August 2025 increase from $9.99), or $99.99/year on the annual plan.
  • No cancellation fee, and access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • Deleting the app does nothing. The subscription lives in your Apple Account, not on your device — the same trap we cover in our guide to canceling subscriptions on iPhone.

First, Figure Out Who Bills You

Apple TV can be billed by Apple directly, by Amazon (if you subscribed through Prime Video), by Google Play (some Android sign-ups), or by a carrier like T-Mobile that includes it as a perk. Check your bank or card statement: a charge from Apple means you cancel through Apple; a charge from Amazon means you cancel through Amazon. You can only cancel where you signed up — the Apple paths below will not show a subscription that Amazon owns.

Cancel On iPhone Or iPad

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Apple TV.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription — you may need to scroll down to find it. If there is no cancel button, or you see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already canceled and will simply lapse.

Cancel On A Mac

  1. Open the App Store app and click your name (or Sign In) in the bottom corner.
  2. Click Account Settings.
  3. Scroll to Subscriptions and click Manage.
  4. Click Apple TV, then Cancel Subscription.

Cancel From Any Web Browser (Windows, Android, Anything)

This is the route for anyone without an Apple device handy:

  1. Go to tv.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
  2. Click the account icon in the top corner, then choose Settings.
  3. Scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage.
  4. Select Cancel Subscription.

You can also manage every Apple subscription in one place at account.apple.com.

Cancel On An Apple TV Box

  1. Open Settings on the Apple TV.
  2. Select Users and Accounts, then choose your account.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Choose Apple TV, then Cancel Subscription.

Cancel If Amazon Bills You (Prime Video Channels)

If you added Apple TV as a channel inside Prime Video, Apple cannot cancel it — Amazon owns the billing. Sign in to Amazon, go to Account & Lists → Memberships & subscriptions, find Apple TV under your Prime Video Channels, and choose to cancel it. The full walkthrough (including the mobile app path) is in our guide to canceling subscriptions on Amazon.

Cancel On Android

If you subscribed inside the Apple TV app on an Android phone, open that app, go to Settings → Subscriptions → Manage, and cancel there. If the charge shows up from Google Play instead, cancel from the Play Store's subscription list — steps are in our Google Play cancellation guide.

Subscribed Through T-Mobile Or Another Carrier?

Carriers that bundle Apple TV as a perk manage it inside your carrier account, not your Apple Account. Log in to your carrier's app or site and remove the add-on there, or contact their support — Apple's cancel screens will not show a carrier-billed plan.

If Apple TV Is Part Of Apple One

Apple One bundles Apple TV with Apple Music, iCloud+, and more under a single charge, so there is no standalone Apple TV subscription to cancel. In the Subscriptions screen, tap Apple One instead and either cancel the whole bundle or use Choose Individual Services to drop the bundle while keeping only the services you want.

Canceling A Free Trial

Trials convert to paid automatically. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid the first charge — and unlike a paid month, a canceled trial usually cuts off access immediately rather than running out the clock.

Ways To Pay Less Instead

  • Annual plan: $99.99/year works out to about $8.33/month — a 36% saving if you would keep it all year anyway.
  • New device? Apple includes three months of Apple TV free with the purchase of an eligible Apple device.
  • Apple One: if you already pay for Apple Music and extra iCloud storage separately, the bundle is usually cheaper than the parts.
  • Rotate: Apple TV's catalog is small but high quality — many people subscribe for a month, binge, and cancel until the next season drops. Our subscription-audit guide covers the rotation strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does deleting the Apple TV app cancel my subscription?

No. The subscription is attached to your Apple Account and keeps billing until you cancel it in one of the ways above.

Will I lose my watch history if I cancel?

No — your Apple Account keeps your history and Up Next list, and everything is there if you resubscribe later.

Can I get a refund for the current month?

Apple generally does not prorate: you keep access until the period ends instead. You can request an exception at Apple's report-a-problem page, but approval is case by case.

I watch Apple TV on a Roku — where do I cancel?

Wherever you originally subscribed, which for most Roku viewers is still Apple directly. Watching on Roku does not change the billing — see our guide to Apple TV on Roku for how the app and billing fit together.
