For what it’s worth, there is a flashlight on your Galaxy Note 8 or Galaxy S8. It’s just not in the form of an app.
I had to go looking on my Samsung Galaxy S8 to find the flashlight setting and here’s how I found it.
- On the Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers.
- The “Flashlight” option is here in the quick menu.
- Tap it to enable the camera flash to act as a flashlight.
- Tap it again to turn it off.
I also use Bixby to start up the flashlight on the go. Say “Hi Bixby, turn on the flashlight”.
Or, hold down the Bixby button and ask it to turn it on. You can also ask Bixby to turn off your flash light as well.
As far as I know, there’s no flashlight widget or flashlight app made by Samsung.
You can use third party apps if you really want those features but the default flashlight on my Galaxy S8 works just fine.
Also, be sure not to use the flashlight for extended periods of time as it can drain your Android battery.
